Upcycle Your Black-Tee at Home

Updated: Oct 9, 2020

Those who follow me on Instagram will know that I recently posted a reel showing the old black tee transformation. And as promised, today I am going to tell you about the process in detail. This is obviously a DIY but a very simple one. It needs only 10 minutes of yours and one simple ingredient.

Now, without further delay, let’s talk about the pre-requisites first:

1. Motivation to actually get up from the bed and do this.

2. A Plain-black tee.

3. Water.

4. Fabric Whitener (ALA/ Bleach). I used the RIN fabric whitener (cost-Rs. 62/only).

5. Few Rubber bands to tie the t-shirt in a bun.

That’s it! That is all you need!

Now, that you have everything with you, let me take you through the process in steps.

Step 1: Take your Plain black tee and dip in the water first.

Step 2: Starting from the center, swirl the t-shirt in a bun.

Step 3: Secure the bun with the rubber bands.

Step 4: Pour the Fabric Whitener all over the bun.

Step 5: Leave it for 5-10 minutes. (Look for the color you want to have because different fabrics fade differently.) Tip: The longer you keep it, the more intense the color will be.

Step 5: Open the t-shirt. Rinse it. And Voilaa!! Your brand new t-shirt is ready!

That’s how simple it is. I enjoyed myself while doing this DIY. And I was super happy with the outcome which rarely happens because I suck at DIYs. But this was super effortless. I have some more DIYs under my sleeves which I learned recently. I hope I will be able to share ‘em soon. Meanwhile, if you do this at home, please don’t forget to share the pictures with me. I would love to see ‘em. And in case you have any question, please mention it in the comment box below.

That’s it for today. I hope you guys will like the post. Until next time! Byeee!

Love Love,

Sakshi
