My First Experience with Embroidery

So, recently, I decided to try my hand at embroidery. Why? Well, because my dear friend (who clearly has a great sense of humor) gifted me an embroidery kit. Now, I’m not exactly what you’d call a creative person. I can barely draw a stick figure without it looking like a crime scene, so the idea of me trying embroidery seemed, at best, questionable. But hey, it’s the thought that counts, right?

After a solid month of procrastination (because what’s better than overthinking something until it’s too late?), I finally decided to give it a shot.

The Kit: Knot Your Type – Who Knew Crafts Could Be Cute❤️?

This startup knows how to sell a craft kit. The moment I opened it, I was greeted with the kind of packaging that makes you feel like you’re unwrapping a present, not a DIY project. The box was bright, colorful, and stuffed with all sorts of goodies: threads in every color imaginable, needles (which I didn’t know I needed to handle with extreme care), wooden hoops, stickers, and of course, a DIY manual.

My Experience

As a total amateur, I was honestly surprised by how pleasant my embroidery experience turned out to be. Sure, my design wasn't exactly a masterpiece, but the guide was clear enough to help me understand the basics. So, at least I didn’t end up with a pile of thread and a confused look on my face.

What was good about the experience?

  • Convenient: One of the best things about the kit was how convenient it was. It had everything I needed to start my embroidery adventure—no hunting around for needles or threads. The instructions were straightforward, and there were patterns and tips included, making it perfect for someone like me who had zero experience. The step-by-step guidance was a huge confidence booster, and I didn’t feel like I was totally winging it (though let’s be honest, I kind of was).

  • Availability of stickers: Another unexpected gem was the dissolvable stickers. These were a total game-changer! They helped me transfer the design onto the fabric without the stress of trying to draw it perfectly. Once I finished stitching, they magically dissolved, leaving me with a neat, clean design. Definitely made the whole process way less stressful and a little more fun—like a crafting cheat code!

  • Relaxing: Finally, and this part totally took me by surprise, embroidery was actually relaxing. I didn’t expect it, but there was something about the repetitive stitching that helped me unwind. It was like my mind took a break, and for once, I wasn’t thinking about a hundred other things.

What can be improved?

Now, I do have to mention that the kit itself cost around Rs. 1090, which I wouldn’t exactly consider affordable. While it does come with everything you need, the price point might be a bit steep for some, especially if you’re just trying it out casually. So, maybe if the price were brought down a little, it would be more accessible for everyone.

My Masterpiece 😅

Now that you have seen my masterpiece, I would say that the dissolvable stickers were a lifesaver. While the kit isn't exactly cheap at Rs. 1090, it’s still a great option for beginners who want to try embroidery without the hassle of sourcing supplies. If I can do it, anyone can—so why not give it a try? So, to my friend who gifted me this kit- Thanks :)
